Day 14: Salt Flats and Utah
Hi from the Sneezy group. We have had quite a day!!!
We woke up at 6:45 am to seagulls calling. We hopped on the bus shortly thereafter and started our day. Today was a longer driving day full of karaoke, good food, spelling bees, friendship bracelet making, and good conversations. For our traveling breakfast, we had a variety of muffins (blueberry, banana nut, and chocolate chip), Gogurts, and bananas/cuties. We stopped at Walmart and a group of volunteers went to help Grant pick up mail. MAIL DAY!!! Lauren D, Hunter, Zoe, Ashton, and Ally were the volunteers that met with Postmaster Derrick! Walmart time was spent walking around and a lot of people bought mashed potatoes or mac and cheese as a mid-morning snack. We loaded up from Walmart and had chicken wraps with chipotle ranch and mustard, cheese puffs, and cookies. After eating, we had a three-and-a-half-hour drive filled with far too many karaoke performances. Brice and Campbell Law each got a 100/10 score with their moving performances of What’s Going On and Man or Muppet, respectively. On the van, we got to listen to many commercial breaks from Ryan J.
We finally arrived at the Salt Flats where many of us licked the ground and we heard research from Madelynn Hutson, Rocco Pavone, Meredith Harris, Ryan Lubaczewski, Patrick O’Sullivan, and Jason Pierce. Madeline Bell got to watch from the bus because Randy accidentally locked her in the bus…don’t worry, she is okay! Once boarding the vehicles, we learned a lot about each other and everyone was a little embarrassed about their life mishaps. For dinner, we had hoagie rolls with a choice of either of ham or turkey, macaroni salad and chips & salsa all wrapped up with a cookie and quality time with each other. Not only did we have a gourmet meal, we had dinner with a show! The show being lots and lots and lots of salt. We arrived at our campsite for the night which is inside a gym and it also means, MAIL TIME!!!!!! Some favorite items received include snacks, candy, and games for our long rides ahead of us. THANK YOU FOR OUR MAIL. WE LOVE YOU!!!!!!
