Day 11: Highway 1 and Monterey

Thanks for tuning in; it’s the Sleepys again! Tonight we made it to San Francisco.

This morning we woke up at 6 o’clock to another Dallas wake up call. It was SO cold last night! We boarded the bus and headed to Walmart for the last meal of this shift. After Walmart, we had a yummy breakfast… mini donuts and applesauce! No sleeping on this bus ride today! We listened to music and got to look at the beautiful views of the Pacific. We saw lots of wildlife on our road trip: seals, pelicans, seagulls, and deer. We rode for a couple more hours before we completed a short hike and had family bonding time. For lunch, we had Hawaiian roll sandwiches, chips, and Kool-Aid! Driving was so beautiful, it was nothing like we have ever seen before, but we all definitely struggled to stay awake. Soon TWB made it to Monterey, and everyone loved this cute fishing town! Payton did research on Cannery Row and Josiah talked about Highway 1 before we went on our way to explore this wonderful town! We shopped and got some sweet treats like Starbucks, Ghirardelli chocolate, milkshakes, and DONUTS!! Some even got some clam chowder; that was a big hit. The scenery was so popular with the beautiful blue water, crashing waves, and lovely marina. Many people bought items from the Sock Store, a golf shop called Pebble Beach, and other souvenir shops. We rode for a short two-hour ride and ate a lovely dinner of chicken caesar salad wraps, veggie straws, and brownies. We made it to our site inside a Methodist Church for a great night indoors! Can’t wait for San Francisco!

We saw a man with a guitar,

Who was shouting from afar.

He was yelling at a guard,

For being kicked off the yard.

We thought it was the end,

And then came over his friend.

We thought he was nice and kind

Then he yelled and changed our mind.
