Day 10: Hollywood and UCLA

Hey everyone, it’s the Sleepys again back with Day 10 of the blog! Welcome to Hollywood, the home to all of our dreams and where we even got to see our very own celebrity, Dallas Godbold.

We started our morning with sleeping in till 7:30 and we were able to take our time and pack up. We boarded the bus at 8:00 and headed to Hollywood. Breakfast on the way was muffins, which included chocolate chip, banana nut, and blueberry; we also had apples! We rode for another hour until we hit Griffith Observatory; from this we were able to see the whole city of Los Angeles and the Hollywood sign. We took some pictures from the observatory and we heard research from Amy H. on the Hollywood Bowl, Julia on the movie studios, and Josie gave us her research on the Chinese Grauman’s Theatre. After the research we started our scheme of pranking random people in Hollywood with a fake celebrity. To prep we had a contest to see who will be the screamers when they see our celebrity. The contestants included Zoey, Lauren D, Ryan J, Sarah L, Campbell, Quinn, Jason, and Hunter. The winners were Lauren D, Hunter, and Campbell. Ryan Joyce came dead last. With our screamers chosen, we loaded the bus and headed to Hollywood. As we were driving, we were able to see some million-dollar houses. Once we made it to Hollywood Blvd, we looked at the stars on the Hollywood Walk of Fame that cost $40,000 to have and the set up for a movie premiere happening tonight. Then, we started our scheme. We spread out by Madam Tussaud’s Wax Museum and our three screamers started screaming when they saw our celebrity Dallas! The rest of the group counted to three and tghen joined the madness. We said she was from the new movie ‘Where the Crawdads Sing’ and was a minor character in ‘Stranger Things’. Everyone went crazy! She signed autographs and posed for pictures. Many strangers wanted to take pictures with her! It was crazy! A random person followed Dallas and her bodyguard, Brice, down the street and around the corner. After we successfully completed our prank, we explored Hollywood through many souvenir shops, especially the one where everything was under $5. After an hour of shopping, we made our way back to the bus and headed to UCLA, where we walked around campus and ate a delicious lunch of pizza wraps, chips, and fruit cups! Caroline presented her research on the Hollywood sign and Sarah L. on UCLA. We all got to get some gear from the UCLA bookstore and received 10% off. After UCLA we made our way to Walmart and the cooks got dinner and breakfast while the rest of us got snacks. We made it to our campsite, unloaded, and we immediately saw a deer. While the cooks got to work, others showered at the shower house or in the lake! Our cooks made a fabulous dinner of chicken nuggets, mac n’ cheese, and corn. After, we finished up showers and we all went to bed for our early wake up time tomorrow.
