Howdy from the Bashfuls! (aka Jason Pierce, Abby Dove, Sarah Herzberg, Kiersten Sadler, Grace Corripio, Payton Loden, Bess Thompson, Ashton Layh, Stuart Thompson, Camden Caldwell)
We arrived at Mallard Creek for our early departure at approximately 10 in the morning! Our group is filled with punctual participants, so no one arrived late! After a heartfelt farewell to our family members and our beloved devices, we turned our minds towards heading out west! We sat next to someone new, introduced ourselves, and got ready for our long day of driving ahead of us. The first rest area we stopped at was in Blacksburg, South Carolina! It was a very nice rest area with white brick and high ceilings. After relieving ourselves, we boarded the bus once again. We had a delicious, gourmet lunch of ham, turkey, and cheese sandwiches. We also got delectable chips and cookies! A few minutes after lunch, we began speed dating on the bus! Meanwhile, the van goers slept through the day and tried to play a game, but it was not fitting the TWB standards, so they stopped. Back to speed dating! The participants in the aisle moved while the people sitting next to the windows stayed put. Our group leaders gave us enthralling questions to ask our dates, such as favorite ice cream flavor, the place you’re most excited to see, and favorite Disney movie! We stopped at Flying J in Georgia to use the bathroom again. Some people purchased snacks and coffee, while others took selfies! The next few hours on the bus were filled with card games, friendship bracelets, and naps! After crossing into Alabama, we had our first Walmart stop! The Happy group shopped for our dinner ingredients, while the rest of the participants were free to roam and shop for thirty minutes. We had fun looking around at different card games we could buy! We drove for another short thirty minutes through the homes and roads of Alabama, until at last we reached our campsite for the night! We pulled into Spring Villa at around 5 pm! We divided into our separate groups and got to know each other through some name games. For dinner tonight we are having burgers, watermelon, cookies, and chips! While we wait, we are enjoying exploring the site and playing fun sports games with our newfound pals. We, bashfuls, won the relay competitions against the other groups!!! We ended the night with our very first sing-along and the staff was super impressed with our singing voices. Shower shuttles and cramped quarters ended our first day of TWB. NOLA, here we come!

Lastly, we all ran to a pile of shoes and had to find, as well as put ours on before returning to our team.
