Day 3- San Antonio

Day 3: San Antonio and the Alamo

Yee-haw!! It’s the Bashfuls again, and it’s our final day of blogging! The boys were woken up this morning with pots and pans, while the girls got an empowering wakeup to “Run the World” by Beyonce! After a quick pack up in the early morning dark of Louisiana, we boarded the bus and set off. Brice tried his first yogurt ever when we had breakfast. For the first two hours, most were fast asleep, while others went to the front of the bus if they couldn’t sleep. Anticipation grew as we neared the largest Buc-ee’s in the world!!! Grant gave us a mile-by-mile countdown as we crossed into Texas and took in our new surroundings. Unfortunately, Ryan L. desperately had to go to the bathroom, yet we were far away from Buc-ee’s! With an astounding amount of perseverance and encouragement from his peers, he managed to hold it until he could sprint into Buc-ee’s! We had about twenty-five minutes to explore the glorious gas station. We shopped for shirts, snacks, Icees, and even swim trunks!  Once we were out at the bus again, we heard of a slight dilemma coming from the van riders! While riding on the highway, the trailer wheel flew off! Luckily, everyone (including the van itself) is safe and sound. Shout out to Mr. Grant Deaton (aka Brad Pitt) for getting it fixed so quickly. It did make for a cramped bus ride though! The remainder of our ride to San Antonio was hot, sticky, and sweaty! It was 108 degrees outside, but our friendship helped us push through until we arrived. We speed-walked off of the bus through historic San Antonio until we reached the Alamo! We got to walk through and take in the history of this monument. Brice and the other counselors pulled a prank on us and told us we had to take off our shoes to walk down to the river walk to protect the porcelain floors. It is safe to say we all made a fool of ourselves and burnt our feet walking the long ways down to the river walk.  We were set free to explore the city. Most people shopped, got ice cream, and took cool pictures. Once back on the bus, we had a delicious dinner of chicken caeser wraps, thanks to the Happys. We took in the rolling hills of Texas and had a quick Walmart stop. Hunter bought a Gilbert Barbie doll, and Randy bought everyone popsicles! We are so grateful for the friendships and memories we are making. We are now safely at our campsite for the night and getting ready for a hot and sweaty sleep.

Bye for now!~Bashfuls
